Medronho do Coração is a distillate of wild, organic arbutus berries, sustainably grown using regenerative agricultural practices and without the use of fertilisers or chemicals.

Medronho do Coração is an aromatic and smooth spirit, created to be savoured with time, presence, and intention. The fruits are hand-picked between October and January, only when they reach their ideal point of ripeness. After being carefully selected, they rest in barrels to ferment, with the natural sugar transforming into alcohol. Once fermentation is complete, distillation begins in small batches, in copper stills and following ancestral methods, perfected by contemporary scientific techniques.
Distillation is divided into 3 phases, and the secret lies in knowing how to separate them: Head and Tail (unfit for consumption), and in the middle is the Heart, the good spirit. Only the Heart—the purest part—is preserved. After being separated, the Heart rests in stainless steel vats to keep the aroma and flavour of the fruit intact. Fermentation and distillation, without additives. Without excesses. Only fruit, time, and precision.
We separate a good Heart because everything we do, from harvesting the fruit to distillation, is done with soul and heart.
The brand, Medronho do Coração, was born from a native forest estate, a result of our love for nature and our passion for the Serra de Santana, situated between the Alentejo plains and the Algarve mountains of Monchique and Caldeirão.
The properties and distillery are located in the parish of Santana da Serra, where our ancestors were born, worked, and preserved the land, which we continue to work on.
Caring for the land and producing quality is our responsibility.
The strawberry tree, a native Mediterranean species, grows in poor soils and on steep slopes; resistant to drought, it is deeply linked to the balance of the cork oak forest. Its preservation is also a way to protect the territory, combat rural abandonment, and reduce the risk of fire. We follow sustainable and regenerative processes, respecting nature, based on practices that promote positive interaction between the tree, the soil, other plants, and animals. The impact is evident in the biodiversity of the land.
We promote the respect for local biodiversity and wildlife. The trees are cared for in an ancestral and sustainable way, without the use of fertilisers, pesticides, or GMOs. We respect the cycles of nature: caring for the strawberry trees is caring for biodiversity, for the native fauna and flora. Like other surrounding species, our fruits are first flowers, feeding the pollinators, which are the basis of life in ecosystems, in continuous cycles.
